Olympic Fever on Ice
at Trinity College

Hartford Public Schools along with Melissa Gregory and Denis Petukhov have joined together for an exciting program called “Fever on Ice at Trinity College” which combines sports and academics to teach students how to skate while fostering relationship building skills in a culturally diverse atmosphere. 2006 U.S. Olympic and World competitors, 4-time US National Silver Medalists, and Champions on Ice Performers Melissa Gregory and Denis Petukhov are the program’s principal developers and instructors.

Introduced in September 2009, the two Olympic skaters teach students to skate. While learning to skate, students have homework assignments in
math, science, reading, writing, and the Olympic movement together with its history. This is the only program of its type in Connecticut.’
"As Olympians, we are dedicated to promoting the Olympic Movement through this program by fusing education, culture, personal development, and learning to reduce racial, ethnic and economic isolation through our sport." Fever on Ice at Trinity College will culminate in an ice skating show on March 28th, 2010 "Proud Nation" - to support the McKinney Shelter in Hartford, CT. It will be held at Trinity College's Koeppel Community Sports Center and feature World & Olympic athletes as well as the kids in this program.
